For the assembly of the fuselage, the single fuselage sections are aligned and mated to form the complete fuselage. The first step is to load the single fuselage sections in the assembly line by means of laser processes. These are subsequently joined via an automated positioning process.
We are employing a special measuring method to warrant the necessary joining precision over longer distances: so-called Cat-Eyes (targets) are affixed to the fuselage sections and are detected by the laser. After the 3D nominal position data is captured and compared with the set point data, the position of the component is corrected to the precise joining position via the NC-control.
